Ten (10) co-opers fulfill managerial roles while the other 18 do weekly house jobs. All managers are elected at the January and September House Meetings, and their terms run until the next manager elections (i.e. no staggered elections). Managers’ duties are as follows:

The President runs the Board Meetings and House Meetings. The President also deals with the co-op lawyer and handles any legal problems that may come up between Board Meetings. The President, and someone of opposite gender, are usually designated as conflict mediators in the house. You are required to bow whenever the President walks by.

The Treasurer
is in control of money paid out by the house. The Treasurer pays co-op bills, provides tax information for our accountant, and keeps track of the financial record books.

The Financial Manager writes billing statements and takes co-opers rent checks every month. If you have a question about your bill, or if you can’t pay on time, talk to the Financial Manager.

The Secretary
records and posts meeting minutes, updates the policy book, puts out the house newsletter and annual scrapbook.

The House Manager
makes sure that everyone does his or her house job and gives fines. The House Manager also determines parking lot assignments. Talk to the House Manger if you have a question about your house job, if you have a problem with someone being too noisy (only if you have first talked to the noisemaker yourself) or if you are having trouble with your parking space.

The Recruitment Manager advertises for the co-op and gives house tours to prospective co-opers. The Recruitment Manager coordinates moving people into, out of, or within the house. Talk to the Recruitment Manager if you get locked out of your room.

The Maintenance Managers (2) fix things that break around the house or call professionals for highly skilled jobs. They also prioritize and organize projects for work weekends when co-opers can complete their maintenance hours.

The Food Coordinators (2) purchase and stock food in the kitchen for the meal plan. One Food Coordinator is generally responsible for getting weekly produce, dairy, etc. from North Country Co-op (and a CSA in the summer), while the other is responsible for monthly orders of dry and bulk goods from a distributor such as North Farm Cooperative. Talk to them if there is a specific food or appliance that you would like to see in the kitchen.
